The Pathways for Aging, formerly referred to Medicaid A&D waiver, provides an alternative to nursing facility admission for aging adults and persons with a disability. Indiana PathWays for Aging is a Medicaid managed care program for Hoosiers aged 60 and over who receive Medicaid (or Medicaid and Medicare) benefits.
The waiver is designed to provide services to supplement informal supports for people who would require care in a nursing facility if waiver or other supports were not available. Waiver services can be used to help people remain in their own homes, as well as assist people living in nursing facilities to return to community settings such as their own homes, apartments, assisted living or Adult Family Care.
As you age, you may need more help with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, etc.. You might consider moving into an assisted living and memory care community like Rittenhouse Village At Northside to enjoy a higher quality of life. However, these expenses can be overwhelming, especially for low-income individuals with limited resources. Thankfully, this need can be met through Medicaid waiver programs which help to reduce the cost of long-term care, making it more affordable for you to age in place.
One program under the Medicaid waiver programs is the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services. This waiver helps the elderly who require nursing care to reside at home or in an assisted living community. Let us help you understand Medicaid waivers better and how you can make use of them to access community-based services.
