Rittenhouse Village At Michigan City is proud to present its SHINE® Memory Care program!
The program is designed to cater to residents who are struggling with dementia or Alzheimer’s. The goal of the program is to help these residents live with their memory struggles and to guide them through discovery and enjoyment. Our staff is composed of experienced healthcare professionals and nurses, dedicated to improving quality of life. The entire program is designed to preserve what their affliction has taken away from them and rebuild that which was lost.
The Focus of SHINE®
The entire program focuses on the importance of self-discovery. We encourage our residents to rediscover their love for exploration and self-reliance. This method also improves their confidence and self-esteem, driven primarily by fun and meaningful activities designed by our SHINE® team.
Broadly, the SHINE® Memory Care program plans and provides meaningful activities for residents, sometimes organizing physical exercises, sometimes mental stimulation, and other times leisure for relaxation and socializing. The program encourages active participation and tries to encourage a degree of independence as far as possible. Our attitude towards Memory Care focuses on strengths over flaws, celebrates small victories, and prioritizes compassion and understanding. We incorporate healthy foods into our resident’s diets and ultimately cater to the individual, allowing ‘Food on the Run’, or meals served in quiet and mellow settings depending on preference.
We make use of scientific principles, married with real-life experience, to boost care for our residents. The end result is a unique and personalized program meant to deal with the problem of memory loss.
Components of SHINE®
The SHINE® program incorporates communication, dining, life enhancement, and neighborhood design. We have a strong communication protocol that closely connects healthcare providers, the residents, and their families. We use scientific research to design menus that promote good health, as well as other methods to encourage more interaction between residents during meals. Every program we conduct has a purpose to it and is meant to stimulate the senses of our residents. Our Memory Care community is specially crafted with safety, good health, ease of living, and joy as the focus. Every team member in SHINE® is given the quality and thorough training to ensure that our residents get only the highest standard of care. Finally, the SHINE® team helps every resident to create their own unique My Story. Every resident will have a chance to handcraft a book, within which their achievements, progress, and interactions can be noted down. It is the SHINE® team’s hope that My Story can ground our residents and truly celebrate who they are.
All these components come together to form a cohesive and comprehensive program that prioritizes residents and ensures nothing but the best standard of care.
